It is tradition in many families to give new mom jewelry to mothers who have recently given birth. The tradition dictates that the husband and (hopefully) father of the child is the person responsible for this. My father did it and mummy received an eternity ring with her first child a watch with me and a gold locket with my younger brother. Unfortunately all of this jewelry was stolen in a robbery.
